Mommy, Is Santa Real?

The question many parents dread: "Mommy, is Santa Real?" According to Dr. Foster Cline, most children start to have doubts about the jolly guy from the North Pole around ages 4 or 5. When my kids have their first fears of Santa, at 3 or 4, I tell them Santa's just pretend. Soon after they've weighed out the evidence, they decide that Santa's real and convince me that he does indeed exist. This has played out the same way with all five of my kids. When their friends announce to them doubts about Santa we conclude that Santa visits everyone who believes in him, and we should pity those who don't.
