Betsy Brown Braun: Find out what is really going on....
-When a child is under age of 7, and doesn't want to go to school, usually it's about something that is going on at home
-When a child is older than 7, they may actually not want to go to school. Could be sometihng with teacher, classroom, assigment, or friends.
-Keep dialogue open with children
-Give the older child an "out" so they know that you're taking their concerns seriously
Tori Kropp: Symptoms and signs for true illness...
-Fever of 100 F or hire
-Sore throat with or without fever can be a sign of Strep Throat
-Itchy matted eyes that are red, could be an infection and child should stay home
-a cold with runny but clear mucous is okay and not contagious
Ann Douglas: Important communication with a caretaker
-Provide caretaker with details and contact information for all family members
-Specific dosage information and details if they must administer medicine
-Make sure refrigerator is properly stocked with foods that will appeal to the child when they are ill
