When it comes to your child's separation anxiety, it may seem like having to let your child that you're just going to the kitchen to get a glass of water is a little over the top. But in fact, letting them know you're leaving and coming back will help with bigger separation issues and concerns such as preschool. Though your child might be screaming at the top of her lungs because you are about to leave when you drop them off at school, slipping away seems like the easiest thing to do. However, Joan Rice RN warns parents that actually is not a great idea. Rice says leaving without saying goodbye actually violates your child's trust and will only make it scarier for them each time you need to go.
