Separation anxiety is a very normal emotional development for young children, especially babies. Often times, moms who are returning to work after a few months (or in some cases, years) see that their baby is having a hard time with the new separation. But according to Parents Ask expert Dr. Ann Corwin, just because you're not there, doesn't mean you can't stay connected. Here are some helpful hints on ways you can easy your baby's separation anxiety and stay connected:
Dr. Ann Corwin: "Kids can stay connected through objects"
-Smell: babies are keen on smell. give them a blankey or "lovey" that you have worn and has your sent. When you're not there, they can hold the object and the scent will be yours
-Objects create positive reinforcement
-It helps them feel connected even if you're not there.
