After three successful pregnancies and deliveries, Lora, a registered nurse, assumed and even planned on having her fourth child at the hospital. However, when the hospital she was to deliver at announced that, due to a swine flu outbreak, visitors under the age of 13 would not be permitted, she began to have second thoughts. Home birth is less risky for moms months after delivery. Besides, it is less expensive. But since we are talking about lives of two persons, we must always be prepared for any possibilities. I did have a homebirth, and it was wonderful and comfortable and so private. I recomend it to anyone who is healthy.

Awesome story, thank you for sharing it! I loved my home birth, too. Some people thought I was crazy for having my first at home but we chose an experienced midwife, took a Bradley class, and had a safe and satisfying experience despite some last minute complications. The long, thorough prenatal visits and continuous attendance/support during labor are what I love about midwifery care. We would totally do it again!

Absolutely amazing!! I have had 3 homebirths (also a registered nurse) and my experience was just like this! My midwife happens to be my mother and I always knew I would have my babies at home. So happy that you were able to have this experience! I totally agree that it gives you a superwoman feeling and nobody will ever be able to take that away from you!! Kuddos to your supportive and loving husband!!

Your story made me cry! I would love to have a home birth! My first was born by c-section because he was breech, and it broke my heart. I want to have a VBAC at home the next time around because I don't trust a hospital to not want to just do another c-section.

Beautiful story! I chose to have an unmedicated VBAC for my second birth after a less than desirable hospital experience with my first. I still birthed in a hospital, albeit a different one, and had that beautiful, life changing moment that you described. I applaud women who take control of their birthing experiences, irregardless of how they may chose to experience them.
