"They" say that 4-5pm is the witching hour. But in my house, the morning time is usually when it feels like the world is turning upside down.  It seems like every morning around 7:30, juuuuuust as I start to segue from "cuddle/cheerio time" to "getting ready for work mode," my 2 1/2 year-old son becomes incredibly cranky. Nothing, except for holding him (and doing nothing else) consoles him. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that he's having separation anxiety and his predictable morning moodiness is entirely impart to "mommy going bye-bye."  Nonetheless, I do have to get ready for work and eventually leave the house (hopefully with matching shoes. And yes, I've walked out with two different boots before).

Is there something I can do to make this a more enjoyable start to our day? Certainly, there's got to be something I should do (or not do) to make this transition and ultimate departure, less scary for my son...?

Curious to know if I was the only mom in the world who, by 8am, wants Calgon to take her away, I asked some our friends on Twitter this:

What Time of the Day do Your Kids Meltdown the Most?

@verdejulie meltdowns occur for us after daycare, just before dinner. I've found it helps to feed them earlier.

@busylilmonkey About 6 p.m. if she hasn't had a nap. Makes for a frustrating dinner.

@DomesticCents They melt down late morning. It's usually because they are getting tired. I redirect them & give them something new to focus on.

@jennchantal
Happening right now! I think they call it the Witching Hour but for me it usually is more like hours, plural.

So... Tell us Parents, what time of the day do YOUR kids melt down the most? We want to hear from you!
