In honor of Earth Day, April 22, 2010, I wanted to share a few of my current favorite eco friendly finds for you to consider adding to your arsenal of better for you products. Earth Day is a day dedicated to everything that honors our environment, it’s a day where we should all consider taking a moment to appreciate and enjoy our beautiful planet, and think a little more carefully about how we treat it. Here’s to making it easy to be green!

1.    Easy Lunchbox System

I recently discovered this wonderful eco inspired lunch box system that was created by a mom who was unhappy about the unhealthy school lunch programs and wanted to send her kids to school with a more nutritious lunch using minimal wasteful packaging. The EasyLunchbox System pairs food-safe reusable lunch containers with roomy cooler bags (I love the green one ). It has a bento box design with 3 compartments to ensure healthy portion sizes and the different-colored lids make it easy for busy households to keep track of who gets what.

2.    Fresh Snack Pack

This is another great eco friendly product designed by a mom who wants to save our planet by minimizing the use of plastic baggies. She designed the Snack Packs as an alternative to disposable snack bags because they are made out of thicker reusable non-toxic plastic to minimize waste, and the closure is designed so that it is easy for children to open. These packs offer the convenience of disposable bags but without the waste and this mom hopes to potentially save thousands of disposable plastic bags from going into the landfills and destroying our planet.

3.    Vapur

Vapur is a completely collapsible re-useable water bottle, that is designed to be rolled and tucked away when you are not using it. It is perfect for airline travel because you can fill it on the other side of security. It is made of durable BPA-Free polymer, is dishwasher safe, and can be frozen and used as an ice pack. What a hip eco friendly idea and I love the new purple color!

4.
Further Hand Lotion

Both the beauty maven and the foodie in me really dig this fully sustainable beauty product concept. This is a yummy smelling lotion that is made out of used vegetable grease sourced from some of LA trendiest restaurants like Mario Batali’s Mozza. Basically, the used restaurant oil is turned in biofuel. Glycerin, a staple ingredient in many beauty products, just so happens to be the by-product of the biofuel distillation process. This converted glycerin is the base of this wonderful citrusy green lotion, thus taking the recycling process further–Awesomely Cool!

5.    June Fifteen

June Fifteen is a delightful artisanal line of eco-chic reusable shopping bags that allow you to be green without skimping on style. These contemporary fashionable bags are made out of renewable jute, rattan cane and 100% cotton and have wonderful features like pockets, moveable separators, wine bottle compartments, waterproof linings, and reinforced seams. My favorite is the Palette Bag which I describe as modern, zen, and Asian. I especially like using it as a picnic bag because it is designed to hold two bottles of wine and all the yummy eats that go along with it. Read more about my other fav June Fifteen Bags HERE.
