Raising kids raises questions. We have expert answers. So go ahead, ask away!

I don’t know about you, but if you are anything like me, some days you are so busy multi-tasking that you forget to eat and then you play catch-up at the end of the day (not the healthiest habit.) This past year, I began working with a fabulous holistic nutritionist (The Holistic Nutritionista—contact me for a referral) who has given me transformational lifestyle changing tips, really taught me how to eat more balanced and healthy, and probably the most significant is the importance of eating regularly throughout the day. Most days, I make a point of having either portable or easy access healthy and satisfying snacks ready to go, and I thought I would share them with you today. A Votre Sante – To Your Health!
1. LARABAR Peanut Butter & Jelly Flavor
I am totally addicted to the PB&J LÄRABAR’s! These bars are insanely delicious and taste very much like a PB&J sandwich, one of my all time favs. They satisfy my sweet tooth and make an excellent on the go snack. And what makes these bars even better is that they are super clean and unprocessed, made out of 100% whole food. The PB&J flavor is only made out of only 4 ingredients: dates, peanuts, unsweetened cherries and salt. Pure and simple, just as nature intended.
2. Brazil Nuts
Brazil nuts are an extremely healthy nut due to their high selenium content, which makes their protein content complete. This means that, unlike the proteins in most plant products, Brazil nuts' proteins contain all the necessary amino acids to foster optimal health and growth. I like the creamy and crunchy texture of Brazil nuts and because of the selenium, they have a very high satiation factor. However, these nuts are bigger than most and also higher in fat, so make sure to limit your portion size to 5-8 nuts about three times a week.
3. Persian cucumbers dipped in Trader Joe’s Mediterranean Hummus or Wholly Guacamole
I love Persian cucumbers because they are sweeter, crunchier and more flavorful than regular cucumbers. I find them super satisfying and eat them alone or with TJ’s smooth and creamy Mediterranean Hummus or the super yummy and convenient Wholly Guac (made with lots of avocadoes and clean ingredients).
4. Trader Joe’s Light String Cheese
This is a staple food in my daily diet. I use it for a quick lo-cal and lowfat source of protein and IMO it is the best tasting light string cheese on the market. It has a hearty full fat cheese flavor and the foodie in me finds it a very satisfying snack.
5. Just Strawberries ‘N Bananas by Just Tomatoes, Etc.!
This is an insanely delicious, simple, kid friendly, very portable snack. This product is exactly what it says just strawberries and bananas without fat, sweeteners, sulfur, sulfites, preservatives, or colorings. All that this delightful family owned company does to the fruit is take out the water (that’s it!), leaving intense yummalicious flavor, good color and great nutrients. They have many other deelish dried fruit and veggie products available too, definitely a must try!
