As we catapult into the busiest month of the holiday giving season, what better time to release a book reminding us that we can (and should) give all year long?? Cami Walker - founder of 29gifts.org and author of the recently published book 29 Gifts: How a month of giving can change your life will hopefully do just that.

The 29 Gifts project and community was launched two years ago out of Cami's need to find a way to deal with her recent diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.  During a bout of insomnia, she recalled a spiritual teacher's advice, "Give something away each day for 29 days."  Cami took the advice and did just that - she started with a simple gift of a supportive phone call to a friend and then followed up diligently for 28 more days.  While the giving experiment didn't cure her disease, it certainly enabled her to cope with it better.  She documents her personal journey in detail on her website but the nutshell version is that the 29 days of giving exercise was such a huge success, she decided to share her experience and hopefully inspire others to do the same.  29gifts.org was born shortly thereafter and the community is getting close to reaching it's goal of 29,000 members.

I'm commiting to joining the giving movement that Cami is leading by joining 29 gifts myself TODAY.  I'm not going to add it to my long TO DO list nor am I making it a New Year's resolution.  I'm going to take these 29 days to end the year on a high note and walk the walk.  Yes, we all know that to give is to receive. But I'm excited for what awaits when one gives for 29 days in a row.

P.S - I'm also going to have my kids, 9, 11 & 19, join 29gifts as well.  3 kids, 29 days. That's a possible 87 gifts to be given.  If one or all of them make it a week or so, that's still 21 gifts.  Not bad.
